About (RST example)
Welcome from the Carla Santos

We have had an outstanding semester, filled with new faces, exciting faculty and student accomplishments, and noteworthy events. The highlight of the semester was the 2019 Allen V. Sapora Symposium, which was offered this year in partnership with the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics and held in the Colonnades Club at Memorial Stadium. More than 300 students attended the two-day event, which kicked off with a star-filled panel on Red Grange in celebration of the 150th anniversary of college football. Students got good advice from and had opportunities to network with a number of luminaries in leisure industries. You can read more about it in this newsletter.
You’ll also meet two of our exceptional graduate students as well as an invaluable member of our advisory board. We introduce as well the newest member of our faculty, Dr. Sharon Zou, whose research focuses on tourism and leisure services.
I hope this issue makes you feel proud of the Department of Recreation, Sport and Tourism and all that it does to give undergraduate and graduate students the best education, research, and community engagement experiences possible. I’d like to take this opportunity to wish you and those you love the very happiest of holidays. One of our first events in the New Year will be our annual Winter Social, taking place on January 23, 2020, at the Hubbard Inn in Chicago. I hope to see many of you there!
