Graduate students are assigned an academic advisor shortly after being admitted to the program, but students can request to change advisors at any time. It is recommended that an advisor be a student’s major professor and be willing to direct the student’s thesis or dissertation. Consult the graduate manual to find the process for changing academic advisors.
