Raycraft leads the RST 180 Class on Hall of Fame Tour

The RST 180 class, led by Dr. Michael Raycraft, set out on a tour of notable tourism destinations, sports facilities and destinations from May 21-June 1 to better understand elements of administration, programming, planning and management. Students will interface with industry leaders, including some Illinois alumni, at the destinations across Indiana, Ohio, New York, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania.

The trip consists of the following itinerary:
 
May 22 – Cleveland
Tour of Cleveland Indians’ Progressive Field, tour of Cleveland Browns’ First Energy Field, Q&A with Browns representatives including AHS alumnus and Illini football great Doug Dieken, tour of Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
 
May 23 – Niagara Falls
Tour led by AHS alumnus and Director of Niagara Falls State Park Mark Thomas (includes Maid of the Mist & Cavern on the Winds).
 
May 24 – Lake Placid, N.Y.
Tour of and Q&A with staff from the U.S. Olympic Training Center / 1980 Olympic Sites (notable for the Miracle on Ice hockey game).
 
May 25 – Saratoga Springs, N.Y.
Tour of the Thoroughbred Horse Racing Hall of Fame, Saratoga Race Track, and Sarasota Springs & Mineral Spa State Park.
 
May 26-27 – Cooperstown, N.Y.
Baseball Hall of Fame Museum Tour and Hall of Fame Old-timers Baseball Game on Doubleday Field. Night at the Museum Event and Photo Op with Randy Johnson, Ozzie Smith and others.
 
May 28 – Poconos
Camelback Mountain TreeTops Ropes Course.
 
May 29 – Hershey, Pennsylvania
Guest Speaker: Princeton University Development Officer and AHS alumnus Dr. Steve Staples, Tour of Hershey Corporate Tourism & Theme Park Facilities.
 
May 30 – Gettysburg/Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
Tour of Gettysburg National Historic Battle Site, MLB Game between the Pittsburgh Pirates and Chicago Cubs.
 
May 31 – Canton, Ohio
Tour of the NFL Hall of Fame.
 
June 1 – Indianapolis, Indiana
NCAA Headquarters Tour and Panel Discussion, Tour of Lucas Oil Stadium, Q&A with Indiana Pacers staff member and Illinois alumnus Derek Throneburg, Tour of Bankers Life Fieldhouse, Tour of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, wrapping up the trip at the Indy 500 finish line.
